Working Together for Safer Environments

In order to protect everyone in our communities, especially those who are most vulnerable, from the evils of abuse the Catholic Church in Canada, and in particular our Church in Alberta, has policies in place to help us reduce these risks.

The policy for our Eparchy is called “Working Together For Safer Environments” and soon will become available online here.  (For now, if you would like to see a copy of it please see any Parish Pastoral Council Member and they will show you the copy that is in the parish office.

Recently the Canadian Catholic Bishops in Canada have promulgated a new book entitled “Protecting Minors form Sexual Abuse: A Call to the Catholic Faithful in Canada for Healing, Reconciliation, and Transformation”  (click on the link to see the book in PDF).  The document is created to:

This document aims to help Church leaders and all involved in Church ministry in Canada to become better informed about the sexual abuse of minors; to share in the responsibility of protecting minors and safeguarding pastoral environments; to identify how parishes and institutions can be more accountable and transparent in dealing with instances of sexual abuse of minors; and to understand better the tragic consequences of such abuse so as to ensure the adequacy of pastoral and administrative responses toward survivors and victims.

I encourage everyone to be familiar with it, so that we can better take care of each other.

Parish Bylaws

Current copies of our parish bylaws are available at the parish office.  It is our hope to update our policy and have it approved at the next Parish Annual General Meeting.  At this point we will post it here.
